A new species of Leptophoxoides Barnard, 1962 (Amphipoda, Phoxocephalidae) from the Brazilian northeastern continental slope

A new species of Leptophoxoides Barnard, 1962 is described with material from the continental slope Rio Grande do Norte state, northeastern Brazil at three different depths: 150, 400 and 2,500 meters. longisetae sp. nov. can be diagnosed distinguished other two genus, L. molaris marina Senna, 2010, by following characters: antenna 1 peduncular article ventral apex weakly ensiform; maxilla inner plate longer than outer; maxilliped palp 3 blunt extremely protuberant apex; gnathopods 1-2 carpus almost cryptic; gnathopod 2 palm defined a large sharply produced palmar hump; pereopod 6 basis posterodistal corner as lobe; telson dorsal long plumose setae on each side. This first record genus for Brazilian waters, uncovering higher biodiversity in deep waters.
